Rice Packaging Options for Export
Packaging affects shelf life, freight cost and how the product sells at destination. Here are the formats we pack most often and what to consider when choosing one.
Bag formats
Every bag carries lot number, packing date, net weight and destination labelling as required.
- 1 kg, 2 kg, 5 kg
- Laminated pouches or non-woven bags for retail shelves. Printed to your artwork.
- 10 kg, 20 kg
- Non-woven or BOPP bags for supermarkets and wholesale.
- 25 kg, 40 kg, 50 kg
- PP woven or jute bags for food service, wholesale and repacking.
- Master cartons
- Small pouches can be packed in cartons to reduce damage in transit.
Container loads
A 20ft container usually holds 24 to 26 tonnes of rice in 25 kg or larger bags. Small retail packs reduce this to around 20 to 22 tonnes because of carton volume.
A 40ft container is limited by road weight rules at many ports, so it often carries a similar weight to a 20ft. It suits lighter, bulkier goods better than rice.
Protecting the cargo
We line containers with kraft paper, use desiccant bags against condensation and fumigate before sealing. For long voyages through hot climates, ask about moisture-barrier liners.

What is the minimum order for private label?
One 20ft container per design is typical. Artwork and plate costs are agreed before printing.
Which bag is best for humid markets?
Laminated or BOPP bags resist moisture better than plain PP woven or jute.
Can one container carry several pack sizes?
Yes. Mixed loads are common and are listed line by line on the packing list.
